The Brief
The objective was to produce an exciting 3D animation that promoted Nottingham Trent University’s “Enabling Innovation" programme – an initiative designed to help local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the East Midlands (Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire) innovate and grow.
It needed to grab the attention of busy business owners and entrepreneurs. The client needed to highlight the sheer variety of support offered by the "Enabling Innovation" scheme without feeling dry or overly academic. My role was to interpret these services into a fun, colourful, and high-energy visual metaphor that reinforced the message: NTU makes the mechanics of business growth simple.

The Story
The "Working With You" campaign was launched to bridge the gap between academia and industry, showcasing Nottingham Trent University as a vital partner for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The narrative centres on the journey of growth—demonstrating how a simple spark of an idea can be nurtured into a fully scaled business through the right support. To communicate this partnership, the film visualises the university's "Enabling Innovation" scheme as a seamless, interconnected system. It highlights the diverse range of services available—from accessing graduate talent and leadership training to securing funding and prototyping—proving that NTU provides the essential building blocks for business success.

The Concept
To make the complex ecosystem of business support feel accessible and engaging, I developed a "Toy Factory" visual concept. Using a bright, playful colour palette and tactile 3D textures (like wood and matte plastic), I turned intangible services into a kinetic Rube Goldberg-style machine. Each module of the factory represents a different service—dropping coins for funding, selecting figurines for talent, and assembling blocks for prototyping—transforming bureaucratic processes into a satisfying, gamified loop of innovation.
