The Brief
Founded in Barcelona in 2001, OFFF is the largest gathering of contemporary creativity, where the best talents from around the world come together to share their creative processes. After working with Dalziel & Pow on a previous project, they engaged with me again to support them in entering a competition to have a design showcased on “The Screen” – a project mapping on the side of the façade of the Disseny Hub Barcelona.
The challenge was two-fold: technical precision and emotional impact. Out of over 3,000 submissions globally, we were shortlisted to the final 150 and our work was selected to be shown to festival-goers.
My focus was dialing in the rigid body dynamics to ensure the 'bubbles' felt heavy yet bouncy against the building geometry.

The Story
We needed to build a precise 3D template of the architecture to ensure the physics simulation interacted correctly with the building's edges and depth. Creative-wise, the goal was to "inject magic" into the festival atmosphere, moving away from stress and unpredictability to deliver a high-energy, scannable loop that would brighten the days of festival-goers. We wanted to turn intangible feelings into a dynamic physical simulation. We treated the architecture of the Disseny Hub not just as a canvas, but as a vessel. We imagined the building filled with "bubbles of joy" - gumball-like spheres each representing a specific answer from the team.

The Concept
For this project, it was about community. For the OFFF Festival in Barcelona - one of the world's leading motion design events - we wanted to create a moment of pure positivity. The narrative centres on a single question asked to the entire Dalziel & Pow studio: "What brings you joy?". From espresso martinis to disco balls, over 50 unique answers were collected. These personal moments of happiness were visualised and translated into vibrant, bouncing spheres, turning the iconic Disseny Hub building into a massive, digital container of collective joy.
